What to expect during the procedure
Before the procedure, one of your doctors will examine you, may take blood, and use x-rays or an MRI to locate the fracture.
To perform kyphoplasty for vertebral compression fracture you either may be on local anesthetic, in which case our doctors may also prescribe medications to help you relax and fall asleep; or general anesthesia may be performed, in that case, you will be asleep and feel no pain.
To start, you will be lying face down on the table, where a healthcare provider will clean the area of your back and apply medication to numb the area.
